Available Scholarships – How to Apply

FGCU LogoAAUW FGCU Endowed Scholarship

Established in 2000 through fundraising and a matching grant from the State of Florida.

Goal: One $1,600 scholarship per year.

Scholarship Criteria: Florida female student from the five county area – Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Glades or Hendry – with financial need pursuing an undergraduate degree at FGCU. Priority is given to a current awardee.

florida-southwestern-state-collegeAAUW FSW State College Scholarship

Established in 2005 through fundraising and a matching grant from the State of Florida.

Goal: One $1,000 scholarship per year.

Scholarship Criteria: Female Lee County student with financial need attending the Fort Myers Campus of FSW. Priority is given to a current awardee based on successful completion of coursework and submission of grades.

SFCFAAUW Sue Gottcent Memorial Scholarship

Established in 2006 with a bequest  from the estate of member Sue Gottcent, an avid supporter of AAUW’s mission.

Goal: One $2,000 scholarship per year.

Scholarship Criteria: Female student age 25 or older, Lee County Resident, demonstrates financial need and attends an institute of higher learning that is part of the Florida State University system (see below for list of eligible institutions). Priority will be given to a current awardee for subsequent years, for a maximum of 4 years. Renewal will require successful completion of coursework and submission of grades.

SchoolDistrictAAUW Lee County High School Scholarship

Established in 2011 in memory of Jane Wagner, a two-term branch president.

Goal: One $1,000 scholarship per year.

Scholarship Criteria:  A graduating female student with financial need and few other scholarships chosen by the school counselor. Award paid to college of her choice.

Star-BrightAAUW Star-Bright Memorial Fund

Established in 2005 by AAUW Book Club, branch members donate in memory of friends and to commemorate special events.

Goal: One $1,000 scholarship per year.

Scholarship Criteria: Female student attending Second Semester at Fort Myers Technical College or Cape Coral Technical College who maintains Satisfactory Academic Progress in both attendance and technical skill.

Eligible Institutions for Sue Gottcent Memorial Scholarship

The State University System of Florida is comprised of twelve member universities. Attendance at any of these institutions meets the criteria of the Sue Gottcent Memorial Scholarhsip.
